Our founder explains what to look for in a true male ally.

Fathers were some of the first allies we knew—and with Father’s Day fast approaching, that got us thinking about the other men in our lives who have stepped up as powerful allies. Who better to break down the art of meaningful allyship than our founder Dany Garcia, who's spent her career transforming male-dominated rooms into spaces of opportunity? Below are her thoughts on what men showing up for women really looks like.

1. Respect

Not every male colleague needs to be your friend. What truly matters is whether they respect your leadership and back your vision when it counts. Allyship isn't about building a social network—it's about creating a professional ecosystem where your expertise is recognized and valued.

2. Vision as the True North

Real allyship emerges when there is a shared clarity and unwavering support around your vision. Alignment matters infinitely more than mere approval. A true ally doesn't just nod along—they actively work to help you realize your goals, understanding that your success is a collective advancement.

3. Intention Beyond the Goal

The difference between collaboration and allyship is intention. A real ally isn’t just focused on the shared objective—they care deeply about your personal advancement. They recognize that success isn’t truly shared unless you are individually empowered, supported, and seen along the way.

4. The Power of One

Never underestimate the transformative potential of a single ally. One male colleague who genuinely listens, advocates, and steps up in critical moments can fundamentally shift power dynamics.
